Motion City Soundtrack is thrilled to announce a fall US headlining tour with Jukebox The Ghost and Now, Now. This announcement comes on the heels of the band wrapping a sold-out headlining run of the US this Spring in support of their fifth studio album Go – out now on Epitaph Records/The Boombox Generation. With the overwhelming response to the spring dates, the fall US trek has Motion City Soundtrack visiting bigger venues to meet the growing demand to see them live. In addition, they’ll be hitting several cities this fall that they didn’t get a chance to play this spring.
In March, Motion City Soundtrack announced a return to their long-time label Epitaph Records to release their fifth studio album, Go. The album deals with choices, love, life and death and was recorded in their hometown of Minneapolis with Ed Ackerson at Flowers Studio. A real return to their roots, this album showcases frontman Justin Pierre’s lyrical sincerity, which is matched with the band’s everlasting ability to create catchy, stuck-in-your-head songs. The album has been heralded as “one of the best releases so far this year” by PopMatters and “an upbeat collection of power pop about solutions for worrisome things” by Newsday who gave the album an A! Alternative Press raved saying, “their brisk pop sensibilities, strident vocal melodies and rock-solid propulsion remain in top form” and Kerrang! described Go as “11 grade A cuts, oozing melodies, smarts and heart."
The first single “True Romance” was the world’s first taste of Go and was premiered by Rolling Stone, who called the song the perfect example of “the quintet's strong suit of perky, upbeat rock.” The video for the song premiered on MTV last month and further captures the group’s innovative approach to everything by shooting the entire video in one continuous shot – backwards! Along with learning how to sing backwards, the band also recorded an alternate version of the song for Journeys and Converse, available for free download on http://www.journeys.com/pluginto/.
Before heading out in the fall, Motion City Soundtrack will be playing summer festivals and shows in Asia, including stops in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia, the Nano-Mugen festival in Japan and the Jisan Valley Rock Festival in South Korea. The band will also announce headlining dates in the UK soon. Check www.motioncitysoundtrack.com for the most up-to-date information.
