Inrtoducing STARSET!

START TRANSMISSION..........

Don't you love when a great new rock band pops up on the music radar? ME TOO! Starset is that great new band. Formed in 2013 by frontman Dustin Bates, Starset brings a great new sound to the rock scene.

Fresh off their first album release "Transmissions" Starset is a band that features a very spacey and  futuristic feel, not so much in the music itself, but in the groups overall physical look and style. Bates performs with a generic frontman look, but is flanked by guitarist Brock Richards, bassist Ron DeChant, and drummer Adam Gilbert, who all dawn suits and helmets that give the feel that the concert is about to take off for another world. The suits of all black feature color changing helmets that illuminate only the face of the person wearing it. The suits even make use of pressurized fog that shoot from a pack attached to the back. Although Bates forgoes the outfit, he does use a very futuristic, spaceship control panel like device that appears to be a keyboard/mixing type of device.

During the bands set, Bates credited tour mate and Breaking Benjamin frontman Ben Burnley with being the one who taught him to write songs. That statement is very apparent when listening to Starset, who share a similar style to that of Breaking Benjamin and other bands such as Red, Skillet, and later Linkin Park. Overall the band put on a really great performance. On their current tour with Young Guns and Breaking Benjamin, the band is slotted as the opening act. However after seeing the show first hand, I would have had them as direct support for tour headliners Breaking Benjamin.

They put on a very crowd pleasing set, and in talking to concert goers after the show, I found that I was not alone. Attendees of the show seemed to love the group and their style. I don't think it will be to long before these guys are headlining their own shows and have nowhere to go but up. Keep your eyes and ears open for news of Starset in your area. Take it from me, this is a band you don't want to skip out on. To keep up to date with the band and when and where they will be performing you can visit their website http://www.starsetonline.com
